Help with Sims 3 latest update?

The latest update says for Mac only, and I do not have a mac so I don't need to update my computer then right? And if I don't, why does that update keep showing up whenever I open up my launcher? If I do download the update even if it is only for Mac, would it potentially harm the game in anyway?
