Why won't my Sims 3 launcher open?

I have tried, multiple times, to reinstall the Sims 3 and get the game to start. The first time I ever installed it on a disk, it worked great. Then I had to uninstall it. When I tried reinstalling it, it was difficult to install in the first place, and the launcher wouldn't open. Instead, a box would pop up that said :Sims3Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for your inconvenience. I've tried installing the direct download from the EA store, and it still does the same thing. Any help?
