Minecraft isn't working!!!?

Minecraft isnt connecting to the website. I tried deleting the .minecraft folder and then runing the launcher for a fresh one, but now i cant even play offline cause its not downloaded! Its works on my other computer, but i tend not to play it on that one cause it always freezes and is very laggy. someone please help!
