Cant play The Sims 3 on my laptop? PLEASE HELP! 10 points :)?

Hey everyone :) So, I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 and have been collecting expansion packs for The Sims 3. I LOVE the Sims. It's not even funny how much I love it. But lately I've been finding my game crashes. A LOT. Its choppy, some objects remain grey blocks when I play and it takes a REALLY long time to load. I always get this message saying that my Sims 3 Launcher has 'stopped responding' so I don't know what to do. I've reinstalled the entire game before and it doesn't help at all - same problem. What should I do? I'm planning on getting a Macbook Pro (13") soon as my laptop is pretty old, so will the Macbook run the Sims 3 better than my Dell? 10 points for best answer! :)
