Maplestory stops working?

My Maple Story hasn't been working but I don't really know what is causing it to not work since I last played before the Mechanics patch. My problem is that every time I would launch the game from the website, it would give me a message saying that Maple Story has stop working and would give me another message saying The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000096). I later tried the game launcher but it says the game has stop working and says that it couldn't locate the game installation path. When I launch these applications, nothing happens except for the error messages. The hack shield wouldn't appear. I checked the processes and it would show the maple story process and would show multiple of them, the more I launch them. I change the properties of the application by unchecking the compatibility mode and checking the privilege mode. I run them as administrator and it still doesn't work. I'm using Vista 32-bit.
