WHY IS MY SIMS 3 GAME NOT WORKING?

Ok, so my sims 3 game just IS NOT working anymore. I was obsessed with the game but i got so busy with finals that i stopped playing for a week or so. The launcher pops up but every time i try to play it says "The launcher has stopped working. Checking for a Solution" . i though that maybe if i uninstalled and re-installed the game would work but i left all the expansion packs alone. the game is doing the same thing. has this happened to anyone?? can some one please help?? i ove this game and i can't let it go
